Jesus makes it clear that God wants you to pray. How does it encourage your heart know that the Lord is ready to listen to you and your concerns?

How has your home been shaped by the prayers of loved ones? Can you see your family as the result of God answering prayers? What prayers can you offer to bless your home moving forward?

How is the world around you being impacted by your prayers?

This lesson that Christ provides His followers falls under the
category of discipleship. Jesus is providing His people a chance to grow in their affection for the Father through prayer. Does your own prayer life lead
you to have a deeper love for the Father? How might this model prayer
help?

The home is a great place to practice this prayer. We are instructed
to be forgiving as we have been forgiven. How can God mature you in your walk with Christ through your application of this command?

All throughout Scripture those that encounter the Living God are
changed. The testimony of the Church is that encountering the Risen Christ
will transform you. Is the world around you able to see that transformation?
How can practicing this prayer help bless your walk with Jesus so that you
might be a better ambassador for the cause of Christ?

The heart that seeks to be justified on terms apart from Christ is
forced to lower the standards. The Law helps remind us that God does not
change His standards. How can the Law help point your heart to the justifying work of Christ with joy and relief?

In this passage Jesus tells the
disciples that there is a proper place for
their joy to rest. He tells them that they
need to have joy in having their names
recorded in heaven. How can you ensure that this joy is yours? What are some typical ways that this joy struggles to grow?

Jesus speaks directly to the
cities that He has done great works and
wonders in and says that they will be
disappointed in the end, because they
did not respond to Him with their whole
hearts. What sort of warning can this be for our homes that regularly provide a chance for our loved ones to hear the
Gospel of Jesus Christ?

Jesus sent out men to make the
cities ready for His arrival. They were
specifically told to offer peace. In order
for them to do this, they had to love His
peace first. The mission of these men,
and ours today, is the same. Do you love the peace that Christ provides? Does His peace settle your own restless heart?

We are told to pray to the Lord
for more laborers to go into the harvest
field. Can you see your own home as a
means of God answering this prayer? Are you helping the members of your home step into the harvest field and serve our King?

This passage is very clear for
us today. We are meant to be
participating in the harvest work. Living
in the world means that you are in it. But it does not guarantee that you are
engaged in it. Who has God put in your
life that needs to know the peace that
comes exclusively through Jesus Christ?

Jesus is shown in this chapter
challenging a man that wants to go home and conclude his family affairs before he follows Jesus. The tendency to want to tell Jesus, ‘yes…but later’ is shown here as disqualifying. Are you following Jesus?

Do you find that your own
growth in the Lord is often stunted and
less than you would like it to be? How
might the Lord’s patience with the
disciples through this section of
Scripture help encourage you in your
walk with Christ?

The home is the place where
the need for discipleship is stongest. It
impacts the way we engage the church
and the wider community. What
investments into the discipleship process do you need to step into for the good of your home this week? What are some ways that you can invest in other to help them grow in Christ?

consequences that might occur from
each member of the church taking their
own discipleship with Christ seriously
this year? What will the world see from
the church if this takes place? What is
the Lord leading you to do today in
response to His grace?
