“Celebrating Christ our King”

Mark 11:1-11

Discussion Questions

Heart

In this passage the people welcome Jesus into Jerusalem with shouts
of joy and gestures that honor Him as King. By their example we are invited to
look at our own use of words and resources to see if we honor Christ
appropriately. Do your words honor Christ as King? Do your resources seek to draw attention to Him?

Home

The people offered theologically rich praise as Christ rode into their
city. They connected the hope of the Old Testament to Jesus as the Savior. How can you help your home offer theologically rich praise? How can you bless your family members with opportunities to praise God from His Word?

Harvest

Jesus rode into the City of David to embrace the role of King, but
not only for those in that city at that time. He has embraced the throne of David to rule and reign over all people for all time. How will you speak and live so as to help others see the love of God in Christ and joyfully bow before Him this week?

Since the home is meant to be the place where the joy of knowing the Father, Son and Spirit develops and grows, what are some of the current things you are doing to aid this cause?

Preparing for Eternity

Text | Luke 10:13-20

Discussion Questions

Heart

In this passage Jesus tells the
disciples that there is a proper place for
their joy to rest. He tells them that they
need to have joy in having their names
recorded in heaven. How can you ensure that this joy is yours? What are some typical ways that this joy struggles to grow?

Home

Jesus speaks directly to the
cities that He has done great works and
wonders in and says that they will be
disappointed in the end, because they
did not respond to Him with their whole
hearts. What sort of warning can this be for our homes that regularly provide a chance for our loved ones to hear the
Gospel of Jesus Christ?

The King’s Peace

Text | Luke 10:1-12

Discussion Questions

Heart

Jesus sent out men to make the
cities ready for His arrival. They were
specifically told to offer peace. In order
for them to do this, they had to love His
peace first. The mission of these men,
and ours today, is the same. Do you love the peace that Christ provides? Does His peace settle your own restless heart?

Home

We are told to pray to the Lord
for more laborers to go into the harvest
field. Can you see your own home as a
means of God answering this prayer? Are you helping the members of your home step into the harvest field and serve our King?

Harvest

This passage is very clear for
us today. We are meant to be
participating in the harvest work. Living
in the world means that you are in it. But it does not guarantee that you are
engaged in it. Who has God put in your
life that needs to know the peace that
comes exclusively through Jesus Christ?

Kingdom Discipleship

Text | Luke 9:57-62

Discussion Questions

Heart

Jesus is shown in this chapter
challenging a man that wants to go home and conclude his family affairs before he follows Jesus. The tendency to want to tell Jesus, ‘yes…but later’ is shown here as disqualifying. Are you following Jesus?

Home

Jesus tells a man wanting to
follow Him that He is not providing any
promise of comfort and ease in this
world. In our homes, how can we be
encouraging each other to have our focus on the eternal life to come and not on constant consumption of entertainment here and now?

Harvest

Jesus speaks to the group of
people wanting to follow Him with news
that will turn many away. How is it that
maintaining the standards of holiness
will help the lost see the message of
Christ more accurately and joyfully?

Discipling the Disciples – Part 2

Text | Luke 9:51-56

Discussion Questions

Heart

Jesus has called us to love our
enemies and to good to those that
persecute us. How does Jesus
demonstrate this command through His
dealing with the disciples? Are there
people in your life that pose as enemies that God wants you to love? What might that look like?

Home

The people in Samaria were
holding fast to their traditional site of
worship. When Jesus pressed onward to Jerusalem the message was clear; the Messiah has rejected the Samaritan worship site as illegitimate. In response, they rejected Jesus. One point being made here is that our traditions impact our worship. How is your home helping fuel meaningful worship and not distracting from it?

Harvest

Jesus’ rejection of the
Samaritan worship site is an expression of love for the Samaritans. His refusal to affirm their choice of worship was hated by the people, but is clearly intended to bless them. How is the church helping the lost by lovingly holding fast to the
Truth?

Discipling the Disciples

Text | Luke 9:37-56

Discussion Questions

Heart

Do you find that your own
growth in the Lord is often stunted and
less than you would like it to be? How
might the Lord’s patience with the
disciples through this section of
Scripture help encourage you in your
walk with Christ?

Home

The home is the place where
the need for discipleship is stongest. It
impacts the way we engage the church
and the wider community. What
investments into the discipleship process do you need to step into for the good of your home this week? What are some ways that you can invest in other to help them grow in Christ?

Harvest

What are some possible
consequences that might occur from
each member of the church taking their
own discipleship with Christ seriously
this year? What will the world see from
the church if this takes place? What is
the Lord leading you to do today in
response to His grace?

Heart

The Father in heaven confessed HIs pleasure in Jesus, His son. If we want to love what He loves, it must begin with loving the Son. How does learning about the veiled glory of Jesus help you love Him more?

The care for the members in the home is often overlooked as simple and common. But the demonstration of Christ we see that even something as common as flesh is able to contain true glory. Following Jesus

Text | Luke 9:10-17

Discussion Questions

Heart

This passage helps us
recognize that Jesus is interested in
caring for the needs of those that follow
Him. How are you trusting Jesus with
your greatest needs? What areas of your life do you need to entrust more fully to Him?

hospitality to the people. He sees their
